funniest book
Lupus asked:

I was reading The Teacher’s Funeral by Richard Peck aloud to my kids and we were blown away by how hilariously funny that book was! What are some other books which we could enjoy which are along the same lines as the aforementioned one? (Very funny and fairly appropriate, preteen-teen reading level)

When I was young, I read this book by Louis Sachar. The tital had Sideways School. Its an extremely funny book where it can make teens laugh as well as adults.

The person who answered before is talking about “Sideways Stories form Wayside School”. It’s a series, very funny and very clean.

one of my all-time favorites is called “the phantom tollbooth” by norman juster. great for both adults and kids! it’s not necessarily a gut-buster, but it’s very entertaining, nonetheless.

and although they’re not for everyone, i’d also recommend the captain underpants series. those are definitely gut-busters!

good luck, and, as a teacher, i give you major credit for reading to your kids–way to go! :)

Have you read “The Princess Bride”? It is appropriate for people of all ages and is HILARIOUS. It is so much funnier than the movie, and I found myself actually laughing aloud while reading it (causing my husband to think I’m crazy).

Here Lies the Librarian by Richard Peck (I too loved The Teacher’s Funeral)
Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
    Preacher’s Boy by Katherine Paterson
    Holes by Louis Sachar
Hit the Road by Caroline B. Cooney

The Princess Bride by William Goldman, The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (much easier to digest than the Lord of the Rings, and quite funny!), The Series of Unfortunate Events books by Lemony Snicket. These are books I’ve read to my kids and we all love them.
