Flying Attempts

It would seem there have been many poor attempts at flying? There have been so many attempts out there and some of them you think could perhaps work and some wouldn't work even with a plane thrown into the mix.
Icarus
This one is only a myth but who on earth came up with the stupid idea in the first place. Well I have to say that flying high into the air with just wax to hold wings together is not the best of ideas. On the other hand his father did warn him not to go up and fly too high but did he listen, like hell he did. A failed attempt at flying that is for sure.
The Ceiling Fan Man
There was a guy (from the US of course) that actually tried to fly by parting together parts from a ceiling fan and mixing together parts from a humidifier and dehumidifier and tried to fly by jumping out of his bedroom window. Well as you can imagine it all went a bit wrong for this guy, he ended up breaking his arm and the ceiling fan messed his leg up a bit.
Balloons
This method has featured in many things and the most recent has to be Pixar's 2009 film UP where an entire house is lifted up by a lot of balloons.
This does sound stupid of course but it does work and it has been proved, it would take millions of balloons to lift a house but it would work.
There have been attempts on flying that have worked of course, just like the flying balloons. The maddest one out there has to be the very first flight to take place. Without this daring event there would be no way on earth we could jet all around the world as we do today.
